First United Methodist Church is located in downtown Murray, Kentucky on the Court Square.  From Hwy 641 (12th Street) in Murray, turn east on Hwy 94 (Main Street).  When you arrive at the 2nd traffic light, you will be at the Court Square.  Turn right at this traffic light onto 5th Street.  The church is located straight ahead on the corner of 5th and Maple Streets.  To view a map of First United Methodist please click here.

The focal point of our week at First United Methodist Church is Sunday morning worship.  We invite you to be a part of this meaningful service.  Share this experience with others through the beauty of our sanctuary, the sharing of God's Word through liturgy, prayer, and the many types of music.  You will feel the Christian warmth and fellowship upon entering our church, and we hope that it will draw you back again and again.

There are two worship services.  The Early Light service at 8:45 is a wonderful Contemporary service.  Using video screens, an outstanding praise band, and a more casual atmosphere, it is joyful worship experience.  To learn more, please see our page on the Early Light Service.  The Traditional service at 11:00 is a more formal service.  Our exceptional chancel choir provides wonderful traditional music and hymns in a more formal atmosphere.  Exceptional sermons by Rev. Richard Smith is the highlight of both services.

A special item of learning and worship is provided for children during the worship services through the children's sermon.  At a designated time in the service, all children are invited to gather at the front of the sanctuary.  At that time, Mrs. Amber Sugg, Director of Children's Ministries, shares a short message with the children.  Children ages 3rd grade and up are dismissed back to their seats, and children ages 3 years through 2nd grade are dismissed to the Children's Church room downstairs.  While there, children are invited to worship "kid-style." 

Immediately following the contemporary worship service, Sunday School classes are offered for all ages and interests. A full listing is available by clicking on Church School.  A beautiful, fully-staffed nursery facility is located on the second floor of the Education Building.  Vibrating pagers are available to parents of children in the infant and toddler nurseries.

Holy Comunion is observed the first Sunday of each month at both worship services.  We believe that the Communion Table is God's table, thus anyone who wishes to partake of the elements is invited to do so. 

Special worship opportunities are offered during the various church seasons:  Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Advent, and Christmas.
